SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for a Carpenter at SMG - Reliant Park. Carpenter’s job entails working under general supervision, performs work as needed to maintain and repair facility operating systems and prepare for and support conduct of events at the facility. Duties include skilled and semi-skilled tasks, which often require heavy lifting and a high degree of physical exertion. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 1) Perform repairs and maintenance to existing structures including but not limited to parking signs, podiums, crates and storage containers. 2) Build objects as required, cut wood as required. 3) Ability to follow and draw plans for items. CAD ability and advantage. 4) Manage and maintain carpentry shop adhering to all safety regulations. 5) Manage carpentry inventory of tools and material. 6) Follow the preventive maintenance program, energy management program and standard operating procedures for all machinery and equipment. 7) Record and log all work performed, complete work order slips and compile all required reports in a timely and complete manner. 8) Promote a safe working environment for all employees by following the life safety and emergency program as needed. 9) Operate power tools and other equipment, such as, light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, access lifts, or other light power driven equipment. 10) May occasionally have to enter areas where fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals are present. 11) Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed. 12) Respond to carpentry needs from other departments at short notice. 13) Develop and submit lists of necessary repairs and improvements.
